RUTGERS Convocation T-Shirt Design Concept

After joining this institution as an undergrad, I became strongly connected to it, similar to the infamous cherry blossom trees that grow in Branch Brook Park here in Newark, where I’ve grown up. The rationale behind this T-shirt design for Rutgers University’s official welcome for first-year & transfer students was centered on all of us being “rooted here”.

Final Design

The root system was designed with elements that imitate our body, like veins and red blood cells, to symbolize our human connection within the university.

Red is meaningful in relation to the University and its mascot, the Scarlet Knight. The quote choice felt unifying and meaningful to our theme.

Isabel Allende’s Quote: This quote tied everything together & felt necessary to relay the message of diversity & unity within Rutgers as a whole.
